A Weighty Matter

I posted this morning on my facebook page that I am 129 pounds.  I was 125 when I found out I was pregnant with Esther in 2010 and because I got so sick that I lost even more early in my pregnancy.  I haven't hit below 130 since I had my baby girl in March 2011 so this is a huge deal.  I don't think I am fat but I do feel like I could make healthier options and I did have a goal to get back to 125. I was 134 just 3 weeks ago.

For those of you that haven't known me for several years, you may not know it, but I used to be 186 pounds.  I was at that weight when I was not pregnant.  I decided when I hit that weight that I had to do it.  I had to find a way to lose weight and that's when I found weight watchers. Why 186?  That is what I weighed when I delivered my son! Being that weight and not being pregnant was a wake up call.  My weight began to shed quickly following the WW points plan. I don't follow it now. I just eat smaller meals to curb hunger throughout the day and choose healthier options. 

Here I was when I decided to lose the weight. I am only 5'1" so 186 is a lot for me! I wore a size 16 and was pushing a size 18. I am currently a size 4 and wear a small-medium top. When I lost the weight- so did my depression and self loathing feelings I had.  Through it all, my husband still always told me I was beautiful.  For those of you wanting to lose weight, you can do it!


I felt so optimistic when I lost 7 pounds my first week of weight watchers.  I loved that I did not feel hungry and I was LEARNING how to eat right!  It's hard to know how when you have slipped or when you have never learned properly.  Your metabolism slows down and you start gaining and you wonder, "what can I do?"  Believe me it is possible!  Here I was in December 2011 and the picture after that was just a couple of days ago (February 28, 2013) taken by my friend at a Mexican restaurant where I enjoyed a shrimp quesadilla.  Yes, I can enjoy food that isn't always good for me, but the point is not to always enjoy food like that. 


So stay healthy or start a healthy lifestyle!  There's no better day than today!

  1. You look great! I currently do weigh 185 and I am only 5'3. I wish you could help me lose weight. I really don't know how to eat better with limited funds. Please private message me on facebook sometime?
